Master of Clinical Medicine - Emergency/Trauma

Date: Commencing 2017

Brief Description: The Masters of Clinical Medicine offers a post graduate speciality qualification in Emergency Medicine or Trauma Management. Both specialisations are designed for experienced medical practitioners/clinicians seeking a globally-recognised specialist post-graduate qualification.   Each specialisation prepares graduates for senior clinical and operational leadership roles in clinical and service.  Graduates complete a clinical specialisation offered at The Alfred Hospital and supplements this with academic coursework at Monash University.

In the Masters of Clinical Medicine you will:- Explore the importance of and develop skills in the practice of evidence based medicine, undertaking research, leadership and system/service development, and obtain advanced specialised clinical skills. Graduates are provided with a unique opportunity to undertake a clinical placement in a major tertiary hospital with a level one trauma centre.

Brief Description: This course offers professional development for current and future leaders in emergency medicine. The content is aimed at best practice management of an emergency medical service. The purpose of the course is to increase clinicians’ awareness of non-medical management principles and processes, and the influence of organisation and government on the provision of patient care. The course also provides an environment for self-reflection and supports the development of well-rounded, well-networked clinical leaders.

Brief Description: Introduction to Research Methods (IRM) is a concise introduction to clinical research methodology and the practical skills required for undertaking such research. Introduction to Evidence Based Medicine (IEBM) aims to equip students with the necessary skills to identify and incorporate the best available research evidence to their clinical training and clinical practice. Both courses can be completed separately or consecutively for a more comprehensive learning experience. They will enable you to be actively involved in medical research and to foster a research culture in your environment.

Missioncraft 2017 - Leadership in Disaster Relief

Date: 24 - 28 July 2017

Brief Description: Missioncraft is the art and science of preparing and conducting successful field operations.  This intensive workshop enhances skill sets required of field leaders in international disaster relief operations.  The workshop is offered to selected medical and public health professionals who deploy to disasters as full-time, field-based, hands-on providers and who expect to serve as organizational team leader or medical coordinator.  It is designed for experienced professionals in pursuit of mastery, and is not intended for medical tourists.
