Practising evidence-based medicine means using the best evidence available to assist decisions about the care of our patients. This evidence is derived from research activities that can be translated into medical practice. The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre places great value on a robust research program which is topically and geographically relevant to our patient group.

Associate Professor Biswadev Mitra is the Acting Academic Director of the Emergency & Trauma Centre and he oversees a very active program of local research projects.

It is important that clinical research can be easily generalised to our patient population or applied to different health systems. At Alfred Health, we pride ourselves in undertaking the highest quality that result in meaningful benefits to our patients as well as being readily applicable world-wide.
